Our village hall…

Sampford Courtenay Village Hall is located in a charming conservation village, surrounded by over 8,000 acres of stunning and picturesque Devon countryside, nestled near the breathtaking Dartmoor National Park. We are conveniently situated about six miles from Okehampton, which makes us easily accessible from various parts of Devon and even northern Cornwall.

Our village holds considerable historical significance as the starting point of the Prayerbook Rebellion in 1549, where the brave rebels made their determined last stand.

The hall has an interesting history, as it previously served as the village school before Devon County Council decided to sell it to the village in 1952, allowing it to be used for community purposes. A Trust Deed was established to promote and support recreational and cultural activities for the residents of both Sampford Courtenay and Honeychurch.

The hall is a cherished and valued asset within the community and regularly hosts enjoyable events such as tasty community lunches, engaging music activities, and joyous celebrations. If you're interested in attending our events or renting the hall for your own special gathering, please check out more information to see what we have to offer.
